Round Rock ISD has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) to support and provide after-school care at ten elementary schools across the district.
Five students attended the ribbon-cutting as Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area Ambassadors, helping bring the celebration and excitement.
“My favorite thing about Boys and Girls Club is Power Hour, where we get to do homework after school,” said Vienna, a student who is part of the Bluebonnets BGC.
Vienna’s friends, Zacura, Karter and Micah also agreed with Vienna on Power Hour but also added: “We get to play in the gym and outside, and the adults play with us. It’s so much fun!”
This initiative, funded through the ACE 21st Century grant from the Texas Education Agency, focuses primarily on after-school care, with schools selected based on priority points from the grant application.
The partnership aims to provide after-school care and high-impact tutoring in small, targeted groups to address a range of learning and behavioral needs.
BGCAA will also hire enrichment staff to offer additional enrichment opportunities for students and organize monthly parent engagement events.
Each participating campus will have a full-time BGCAA club director who will lead the youth development staff, ensuring consistent support and oversight throughout the school day and after school.
“It’s helping to support our families’ after-school needs, and I’m so grateful that we have this opportunity,” said Superintendent Azaiez. “This partnership is strong, and we’re excited to have this program at ten of our elementary schools.”
